Declaration of love for Campbell McKee

One thing I know, is that Campbell McKee is the love of my life. One thing I know, he makes my dreams come true and continues to help me work at achieving my next set of dreams.

When we first met, we made a Wish list each. To me, none of that really matters, unless I have Campbell with me.

He is the most caring, loving, understanding, considerate and damn gorgeous, man that anyone could ever ask for.

I know he gets embarrassed when I say lots of nice but cheesy things to him, but he knows hes loved.

This journey has been hard, but there is no one I would rather go through it with, than Campbell. He is the one, my one and only.

He is going to be an amazing Dad, a parent that all children would love (even though his baby name choices are cruel lol).

Thank you for being you, and thank you for being mine. DOT DOT DOT ;) x

Go ahead to give my Booster!

So, Friday 30th March, went to have my bloods done (which hurt and bled quite a bit compared to usual!) and a scan to see how my follicles are growing.

Nurse said they are growing really well and the lining of my womb is looking great :) Could have been the aspirin helping, or could have just been okay to begin with.

Lots and lots of follicles growing, so much so that my belly feels full, my appetite has been weird, and going to the toilet has been almost impossible (yuk).

So, later on, Friday afternoon, got the phone call to say to take my Booster Injection at 7.30pm on Saturday 31st March. One more Cetrotide after that's me done with them all.

Theatre is booked for Monday 2nd April at 8am. Looking forward to it, although feeling slightly nervous as I will be sedated to have my Eggs Collected.

Campbell has to give his sample at 8am also, then wait about for me to recover, so he can take me home.

Bring on Monday, will update soon. Fingers, toes and whatever else is possible to cross.

Lets hope we are on our way to making a baby, our own special miracle to take home x

Injection Disaster!

Don't worry, not a disaster as in theres a big hole in my belly or anything. Just a problem with air bubbles in the needle!

Tried for about an hour last night, wasting two bottles of the Cetrotide injection bottles (which I feel really really bad about, knowing that they could have helped someone else).

An hour after trying, and a LOT of stressing, we gave up and phoned NHS 24. While waiting for the call back, i wrote my problem on IVF Buddies page on Facebook to see if anyone could offer advice.

Half an hour later we got the call back from NHS 24, and they basically said the same as some of the ladies on the IVF page who had commented. I was so grateful, as it meant I didn't have to miss my injection, or go to hospital at midnight and have it done.

So, we finally got the injection of Cetrotide done, and it didn't really hurt (or nip as I was told it would) which I was glad of. I think to be honest if I did hurt, I still wouldn't have felt it .... all I felt was relief that we got it done, and I could go to bed, I was shattered .... so was poor hubby.

Don't know what went wrong, as the Menopur injections were easy!!

Last night made me realise this process is hard, but I am lucky to have someone like Campbell, he truly is one in a million. He was so caring last night, didn't want to hurt me or put me in any danger with the needle. But he braved through it to give it one last attempt and it was perfect.

He is going to make a fantastic father. I cant wait to watch every minute of it xx

So .... injections are actually painful!

So after thinking that the injections weren't sore, they hurt now! The second one was the worst and left a mark on my stomach!

Feeling positive, and happy!

Feel happy as I am in love with the most amazing guy, Campbell .... and I feel like our dream is more of a reality now!!

A baby is just one of the dreams, we both want careers that make us happy, and lots of money, a nice big house, and a nice cosy lifestyle.

Friday is my next scan date!! Bring it on ... Hope my eggs are growing!! ..... Speaking of eggs, I fancy an Easter egg haha!!

The Injections begin!

Scan went well today, although it felt pretty uncomfortable and I got the all clear to start my injections.

Going into the theatre, we had to both put gowns on! Must say, Campbell looked rather good!! ... So good that I took one of the wee hats home with me, since it was disposable anyway haha!!

When I was having the scan, Campbell held my hand, hes so sweet and so supportive!

So, we got home, got the injection ready and just before we started, I decided to video it. Mainly cos I knew then I couldn't cry or scream .... but in the end it actually didn't hurt.

Five mins or so after the injection, it started to hurt, just a small ache, and its been there all day, but I know that's its all going to be well worth it .... when we get our little baby, in our arms :D

Second injection will be tonight, about half past 9. Not scared this time :)

Staying positive, we will have our baby soon :)

Period arrived!! Happy Days!

So, today is Thursday 22nd March 2012. Today I went to the clinic, for tests to find out why its been over 2months since I had a period.

After having blood taken .... and then being told to wait in the waiting room again before my internal scan, my period began! I could not believe it!! I was over the moon, although the cramp has been unreal.

Had my scan and they said my womb looks great as does my ovaries :D Couldn't have asked for better.

We were then given all my Injections to take home and told to wait until the afternoon to find out when I would be starting them.

Got the phone call in the afternoon and they said they want another scan done on Saturday just to make sure my womb lining is getting thinner (which should happen).

So scan is booked for Saturday at 12.20. Then I will find out if I can begin my injections on the Sunday.

I am hoping that I can :) Fingers crossed. And toes!!

Feeling really positive, mainly because my period decided to show, even though it was 2months 6days late!

Was talking to my younger sister Kate about it all today, telling how the whole process works. Its lovely that shes interested. She will make a great wee Auntie one day :) Just hope its one day soon.

Also, just now, me and Campbell are getting on so great and I couldn't be more in love with him. He is my world and melts my heart everyday. I love him <3

Fingers crossed for Sunday!

Bit of good news! Finallyyyyyy!

So I took the home pregnancy test and it was negative. Knew it !

Knew it would be but the clinic asked me too.

Phoned the clinic on Monday morning, 20th February, and was told to come in on Wednesday for a blood test. Done that today and then received a phone call, although I haven't received my period yet, I can still start the medication to reduce my hormone levels! Woohoo!!

Pick up the tablets tomorrow!!

Also started baby aspirin tonight after speaking to the ladies on IVF Buddies!!

Fingers crossed our baby making process is just beginning for you! So excited - watch this space x

Second Appointment at the hospital! ....Oh the forms!!

Monday 6th February, 11.30am. Second appointment and we got our dates etc.

Filled out all our forms, and there was a lot!

Was told that both our test results are clear, apart from me having slight thrush. Too many antibiotics when I was ill.

Got told today off the Charge Nurse, Diane Stewart, that I have a high hormone level. Not 100% sure what this means to be honest, although I do know I am at risk of OHSS :( which can result in the cycle being cancelled.

I have been told to phone the clinic when my period comes, and I will have to go in and collect tablets to take. Then book a cathetar test day to make sure they know what one to use on the day, to make it easier. Then after that, wait for my next period to come (March) and then I will start the jags, usually last from 8-12 days. And then some scans to see how the eggs are getting on. So if I am too fall pregnant, it should be March.

I feel a bit scared, because of the OHSS, but at the same time I am more positive than ever. I think we are going to be parents soon. Kinda scary but gonna be the most amazing thing in the world.

Now, I am off to do some college homework, and then speak to Campbell about a plan to start saving by some money for the baby fund, and also to start clearing as many bills as we can. Also need to find cheaper ways of living, for example ..... no takeaways lol!!

I am so happy today, nothing could have made this day go any better. Roll on March :D xx

First Appointment - The Details!!

So, we went to our first appointment yesterday in the ACS department in Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Our appointment was for 8.30am, Saturday the 7th January 2012.

We were greeted by a lovely nurse called Betty, who talked us through some of the basic details and explained that today was just about a few tests.

Both me and Campbell had to have blood taken, and then I had to have some swabs taken and a smear test while I was there.

Blood was fine, we both held each others hands as the other got blood taken, I even watched the needle go into Campbell's arm. I must be getting brave!!
My smear was slightly nippy, but went fine and I was glad to have it done. Left me with a crampy belly but breakfast soon sorted that. We were given a handful (maybe two handfuls) of forms to take home and fill in for our next appointment, on the 23rd of this month. There was a lot of forms and we went through them over breakfast in our favourite cafe Celino's.

After breakfast we headed to the Imax Cinema to watch a film then spent a few hours in the Riverside Museum, which was lovely. Our day out came to an end with a pizza hut and a taxi home to eat in the house in front of the tv.

We enjoyed our day out. It was a good day and it finally feels like our journey towards becoming parents will begin now.

Over the moon its starting and that, within 3 months, we could be pregnant!! Fingers and toes crossed.

Also, just need to mention, so proud of my other half Campbell who's given up smoking completely. I know its been really hard for him, but I want him to know what I love him for doing it! And love him for alot more reasons!

Back to college and normal life tomorrow, and Campbell also has a job interview in Oldham, hope it goes well for him, he really really deserves it!!

Speak soon, from a very happy Shell x

January 1st 2012!

Its January !!!!
Which means I should say:

Had a really lovely evening with Campbell last night, as we waited on the bells. Sat and gabbed away, watching something on the TV that made us laugh too much.

When the bells came, it was lovely. I felt really emotional, but in a good way.

Well, Saturday is only 6 days away now and that will be our first appointment with our IVF treatment. I cant wait.

Time to stop dreaming, and start believing now.

We have a DATE!!

Wow! Saturday the 12th of November was the best day ever!

As Campbell was getting ready to go to work, the mail arrived. I was still half asleep, and usually always am, I say just leave it, but on this day I said give me it to open just now. One letter was for my wee Ebay business, the second was a letter from the Assisted Conception Services!

January 7th 2012 is our first appointment to have some tests done, and then the second appointment is the 23rd January to discuss our results and the treatment we are going to receive! I am so excited, so happy and cannot wait!

Campbell seemed really happy, bit shocked the same as me, as its real now! Our journey will begin next year and all going well, we could be on the road to starting our precious and much wanted family.

So on Saturday, I had a girly night out, one last drink and now its health kick time!! Asda fruit section here we come !! ..... Although Sunday dinner was a pizza hut, as a treat lol.

Roll on next year and let the good times happen. So happy and excited :) x

Finally .... some good news

Campbell has found out that his job will be extended until January now so that is great news. I was worried about what would happen if his job did finish on Friday, but i am glad that it one less worry. Time to save our money again, pay off everything and have some fun.

I am also feeling happier today, think it was after having a chat with Campbell. Things feel good again.

Looking forward to the Halloween party in my sisters house this weekend. Plenty of photographs to follow. My favourite day of the year, although if the IVF happens and is successful, got a feeling that would be a bit more exciting lol!

Ebay business still doing well so I am happy at that too.

And next week to keep me occupied, we are decorating our living room in time for new couches arriving. Cant wait. Needs a wee update and brightened up. Painting will be fun .... NOT lol.

Ebay - The Distraction

I have started a small Ebay business, buying goods cheap, then selling at a higher price. Bought things so far like, clothes, bags, shoes, baby clothing. Wish I was buying baby clothing for my baby to be instead (one day).

It feels good as its a distraction from my daily worrying about everything, including the IVF.

I am having so much fun starting the business, and buying all my stock, doing my accounts etc. I love organising things and making up spreadsheets lol!!

Lets keep fingers crossed the business does well :) x

One month to go :)

So .... Campbell phoned the clinic on Friday morning. He was told that we would receive our letter with the appointment at the very end of October. I am so excited. This means our journey will get so exciting come November. I feel so happy.

They also told us that the procedure we will be having is ICSI (Intracytoplasmic sperm injection). This means the sperm will be injected into my egg.

ICSI

I feel scared, thinking about the procedure no taking and being told that it hasn't worked. I am trying my hardest to stay as positive as possible. I want this baby more than anything. I want to be a mum more than anything. I want to see Campbell become a dad. I have my fingers crossed and hope that luck is on our side.

To keep ourselves busy in the meantime, we are helping to organise a Halloween party in my sisters house. I wont be touching alcohol until then, and then hopefully it wont be another 9/10 months after that until i have it again. Really excited about Halloween, its my happiest holiday, mainly as i love dressing up, becoming someone else for the day/night. This year I will be transformed into Poison Ivy from Batman. Campbell will become the Grim Reaper.
This year could potentially be our last one being childless, all going well in November. Next Halloween we could be dressing up our precious wee miracle :) x

Happy Halloween

Ryan turns 2 !!

My best friends baby, Ryan turned two on the 26th August 2011. We had him stay the day after his birthday so we could take him out for the day.

We went to the Science Centre, in Glasgow and had a fantastic wee day. Then home to play with his pressies which he loved. He is obsessed with cars, so we bought him lots of wee cars, and a big garage to put them in. He was so happy and content playing with them.

Ryan was a wee angel, playing with everything, running about mad, and just having so much fun. He is so funny, he talks a lot better and its almost a conversation we can have now. He is one of the brightest and most intelligent children I have known. My wee brother Stephen stands out as being really bright when he was young too, and I can see the same in Ryan.

We had a fantastic day at the Science Centre. I loved watching Campbell with Ryan again, hes so good with him and Ryan adores him. Campbell is going to make a wonderful dad. I know he will be strict, or says he will, and knows that he wants his child to have the best in life etc, but once he or she (especially a she lol) comes I am sure they will wrap him around their finger, as hes a soft touch once you get to know him. He is kind, caring and so loving. I cant wait till the day, that he holds our baby in his arms for the first time, I get emotional just thinking about it.

Being at the Science Centre with Ryan makes me realise how much being a mummy and daddy would suit us. We would be totally focused on our kid, and spend as much time as possible doing fun things, rather than worrying about nights out with friends, or times when its just us. Obviously we will want a break sometimes, but a kid could fit into our life so perfectly :)

I am positive about becoming a mummy, and hope that it happens.

Its the start of September today, which means IVF in October is only a few weeks away. I am excited, nervous but most of all, I am ready.

Wish us luck <3 x

Update!!

Well the healthy eating is doing well. Still eating lots and lots of fruit, sometimes too much lol.

Taking my vitamins everyday, which is amazing for me as I always forget things like that. I have remembered to take them every single day since I started.

I feel like I have new energy from taking these. Usually I am tired a lot, and I haven't been. It feels good :)

Poor Campbell is almost forced to eat a kiwi every night after dinner. I read somewhere that it increases the health of the sperm. We laugh every night as Campbell will go find cookies, biscuits, crisps etc after dinner, but instead he is handed a kiwi LOL.

Our relationship is making me so happy just now, we haven't argued or disagreed in so long that i cant even remember. We are paying off all the bills so that we can start saving our money for our future.

All in all, life's good. And we are ready for a baby. Just need some help to "make" it.

Oh and I have just remembered, need to rebook Acupuncture appointment. Text sent to Campbell.
